JBS Beef Wins Two Environmental Awards
JBS Beef has won two awards from the American Meat Institute (AMI) for pollution prevention successes in 2010.
We are pleased to announce that our Greeley and Green Bay teams each won an award based on numerous steps both facilities have taken to reduce water and energy usage,
to reduce pollutants in wastewater discharge and to improve the sustainability of our business. These awards add to a growing list of similar awards that our
facilities have won in the past. More than 90 plants from the industry participated in the AMI Awards Program.
In addition, the AMI recognized four of our facilities as “Tier 4” facilities for Environmental Management Systems (EMS). This designation evidences the outstanding
status of their Environmental Management Systems, which are certified to the internationally recognized ISO14001 Standard. JBS plans to enhance the EMS at the
remaining four plants this year in order to also achieve ISO14001 certification, so we look forward to having all eight plants receive this top ranking at next year’s
conference.
The awards were passed out during the American Meat Institute Foundation (AMIF) Annual Conference on Worker Safety, Human Resources and the Environment, held
March 9-10 in Kansas City, Mo.
