We Care About Our Communities
American Cancer Society
Every year, JBS participates in the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life, a national
event. Teams, in each community, pledge to "walk" for 24 hours, raising money for cancer research.
Relay for Life
At the JBS Corporate Office, a fundraising team puts together a variety of fun events to raise money,
including: a penny collection challenge between departments, a breakfast burrito sale, a children’s carnival
and barbecue, a bedding plant sale and more.
JBS is also proud to sponsor the Greeley Relay for Life Dinner. This runs from Friday afternoon to
Saturday afternoon and feeds all of the participants, usually about 3,500 people. Volunteers help cook
and serve food to the hungry walkers. Learn more about about The
American Cancer Society by clicking on the link.
Greeley Stampede Sponsor
Mutton Busting
JBS is a proud sponsor of the Greeley Stampede. For more than 85 years, the Greeley Stampede, billed as
"The World's Largest 4th of July Rodeo and Western Celebration," has been thrilling audiences. The
festival spans two weekends in early July. It features a professional rodeo, bull-riding, kids’ rodeos,
country and classic rock concerts, a demolition derby, a televised Fourth of July parade, a carnival
midway, a western art show, free stage entertainment, lots of food and numerous other community events.

United Way
JBS has been a proud sponsor of the United Way of Weld County for many years. Every year, the fundraising
committee puts together several fundraisers to raise money for less fortunate families and children right
here in our county.
Fundraisers include: golf tournaments, silent auctions, cookbook sales, bake sales and much more. In
addition to the fun events, United Way provides each employee with a pledge packet. Employees can pledge
money right out of their paychecks or make a single one-time donation. To learn more about
United Way, click on the link.
The Special Olympics
JBS is honored to have fed over 2,000 Special Olympians and volunteers in Northern Colorado.
Everyone's a Winner
Throughout the forty-year history of the Special Olympics, athletes with intellectual disabilities have
come together to compete. Coaches, trainers, doctors, nurses and volunteers step forward to help the
athletes. Young people with and without disabilities, come together to discuss diversity and acceptance.
By involving such a diverse range of individuals and groups, Special Olympics paves the way for other
community-based organizations. To learn more about how you can help, visit
Special Olympics.
Weld County Food Bank Corporate Food Challenge
Each year, JBS Corporate Headquarters competes in the Weld County Food Bank Corporate Food Challenge. We
compete against several other large corporations within Weld County, to see who can give the most donations
of food, money and volunteer time.
Supporting the Community
The winners receive a rotating trophy to keep at their office for the year. In 2010, JBS was proud to win
two of the four trophies available: largest food donation and largest monetary donation. We donated a total
of 29,795 pounds of food and $6,897.82 in cash. All of the money and food goes directly to families in need
in our community. Visit the site to learn more about the Weld
County Food Bank.
